Richard recently joined the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service team in Basildon for their open day:
"It was great to meet Jason the station manager and members of his team. They have a really good community partnership in place with Essex Police, working collaboratively across the area. Day to day they mostly deal with waste fires, and they want to focus more on traffic accident awareness by engaging young people at schools and colleges.
"They are really plugged into the community they serve, and it was great to see so many residents supporting the open day.
"My thanks to everyone in the fire service across Basildon and Billericay for all they do to keep us safe."
