Richard attended the event celebrating 50 years of Basildon train station.
"It was great to be down at the C2C line with c2c Rail to celebrate 50 years of the station!
"Obviously, I’ll keep pushing for improvements - like contactless ticketing & more new rolling stock - and in the longer term replacement of the ageing overhead line infrastructure too.
"After a tough time a few years ago, C2C is now one of the most punctual and good value lines (for taxpayers and passengers) in the country, I’m concerned that the Government’s plans to nationalise the service won’t deliver improvements but could actually be a threat to investment in the service going forward and I’ll certainly be holding them to account for this decision, especially if it delays investment and further improvements to the network."
