Richard visited the team at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre at Basildon Hospital.
"Following my visit to the Urgent Care Centre in September, I recently had the opportunity to meet the cardiothoracic team at Basildon Hospital following the kind invitation from Fiona Ryan. My thanks to Dr Thomas Keeble and Dr Jason Dungu for showing me the facilities at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, which provides some of the country’s best specialist treatment and care for people with heart issues
"It was great to meet members of the team and to see the impressive treatment rooms to provide care to people locally. They have some exciting community engagement plans, including a trial project to get out into the community with defibrillators and focussed training. I want to thank the hospital team for the briefing, the visit and all they do to support residents across Basildon and Billericay and in their leading research both here and internationally.
"PS. I just want to give huge thanks to all the staff there. My mum was an NHS ward clerk for a decade before retiring earlier this year so I know how important the staff and teams in our hospitals are from bottom to top."
