During my election campaign, countless constituents questioned me on how I was going to level up the local economy, improve job opportunities for our young people and ensure that the constituents of North West Durham have the access to good jobs they deserve.
I am working closely with HM Treasury to improve taxation policy for businesses, supporting Government schemes like Kickstart, the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme and I am championing apprenticeships to so that all individuals and companies are given their fair share of support and opportunity.
I’m am also pushing for a new rail line in the constituency to enable easier commuting and better access to jobs, and I’m going to continue to work closely with major local employers like Nissan and Cook Defence. I will continue to drive Government to deliver the Levelling Up Fund, which will improve infrastructure across the North East – including faster broadband and better roads.
