Richard Holden MP, speaking to GB News on 26 November, about Banning So-Called “Virginity Testing” and Hymenoplasty.
"This week the Government accepted in full my proposed changes to ban so-called Virginity Testing into the Health and Care Bill. This is a massive win for all the MPs from across Parliament who supported me, but especially for the campaigners from Karma Nirvana, MEWSorganisation, IKWRO who have fought for these changes to stop violence against women and girls for years.
Massive thanks is due too to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RCOG & The Royal College of Midwives who have been fully supportive of my campaign to get the law changed too.
The Government’s panel looking into Hymenoplasty will report soon and I have been assured that if it is supportive, as we expect it will be, of the need for legislative change to essentially ban this practice that the Government will table further amendments in the House of Lords to this end. I have already lined up several first rate campaigning peers, including Baroness Sugg, to keep their feet to the fire on this."
