Richard and Cllr Jeff Henry, Essex County Councillor for Laindon Park and Fryerns Division, visited the Laindon Bench Project.
Speaking after the visit, Richard said:
"You might be wondering why Cllr Henry and I are sat on a bench outside the Laindon Community Centre and Bar. You might also be wondering why we are being photographed doing that!
This is part of the Laindon Bench Project, a community art project created by Creative Basildon that is taking place at various locations around Laindon this month and next. Schools including James Hornsby, St Anne Line Catholic Junior, Merrylands Primary, and the Phoenix Primary are all taking part and I encourage residents to pop along to have their photograph taken.
In mid-March you will be able to view the portraits on hoardings around the old shopping centre. Once the project is finished, the bench in question will be decorated and donated to the community.
A great local project highlighting the importance of community – get involved!"
