I help to keep our country safe, protect our values and preserve our way of life. Since becoming an MP, I’ve worked with various local groups across North West Durham to tackle crime, littering and speeding.
42 New Police Officers
I back our police and helped get 42 new additional officers in 2020 across County Durham. The police have assisted me on numerous occasions issues, including when we have had constituents at serious risk of harm, cases of anti-social behaviour, agricultural vehicle theft, sheep worrying, and fly-tipping.
Tackling Speeding
A particular issue of local concern is dangerous driving and high speeds on our roads. Since being elected, I have visited more than a dozen traffic hotspots in places including Consett, Crook, Castleside, Burnhope, Dipton, Cornsay Colliery, Fir Tree and elsewhere. I am concerned that the Council are not taking this issue seriously enough, and I will continue to push them to take more action on this.
