Richard Holden Runs Debate in Parliament today on Vehicle Ownership Restrictions and Crime in Parliament Alongside the Family of the Late and Loved Andrew Roland
Richard Holden MP raised proposals on how to change the law to help prevent further tragic deaths and other criminal activity in the future. These will formulate the start of a campaign to change the law on vehicle ownership in the future.
Andrew Rowlands, a #Consett lad aged 18 was killed in a car that should have been scrapped and was bought for £100 by someone who had never had a driving lesson, never mind a driving licence.

His dad, John Rowlands, has spoken to Richard several times and I’ve also met his mum, Karen, and his sister, Becca.
Richard offers the following thoughts:
"It isn’t just about people being killed in cars by people who should not have them. According to conversations I’ve had with Durham Constabulary there also issues around such vehicles being used for county-lines drugs transport. And many of our #NorthWestDurham farmers are also concerned about these vehicles being used for lamping, poaching and criminal damage on their land.
I secured a debate in Parliament to kick off a national campaign to tighten the law on vehicle ownership on the issue.
I’ll keep campaigning and working with the Rowlands family to get the law changed."
